NSR/AS Lab 3 – VPNs, By Francesco Davoli Student ID: 7674872 Abstract Security and privacy is and always will be an important subject in regards to computing, weather its successfully securing clients data or protecting a personal network from would be hackers, the concepts of security and privacy will always be at the forefront of any individual’s mind. Due to the constant need for more security as well as privacy the concept of a VPN or Virtual Privet Network was introduced and implemented. This report will first go into detail on what a VPN actually is, how VPNS work, what their capabilities are and how they can be implemented into an organisations security policy. When a user wishes to gain access to a VPN, they must first be authenticated (usually via a username and or password, commonly on a downloadable client). Upon accessing the VPN, the user is often issued a randomised token is issued, the token is used as a personal identification number that the user must enter. VPN characteristics and capabilities – There are various different characteristics and capabilities attributed to the two major types of VPN’s. These are Remote Access type VPN’s and Site-to-Site VPN’s. Remote Access type VPN’s typically use public infrastructure (Primarily the Internet) in order to allow users to remotely and securely connect to the organisations network. The user will often have to download and install a client VPN on their system in order to connect to the VPN. The client will act as a gateway to the network and is also used as a means of authentication for the user by forcing the user to create an account with a unique username and password. One they have access the client will create a link back to the user’s system that will allow it to access the host network resources as if they were accessing the hosts system locally. School of Rock The School of Rock is about an over confident guitarist Dewey Finn played by Jack Black. The camera then cuts to a close up, and changes from Dewey to the other band members; this shows the audience that the band members are tired of Dewey it is no surprise that Dewey will shortly be kicked out of the band.After a few moments, Dewey rips off his T-shirt and does a stage dive, however, nobody catches him, at this point you can see how the camera follows him with a hand-held shot, therefore, making it more realistic, when Dewey hits the floor of the venue, people gather around him, the lighting used here its green, but still very dull, this gives us the hint that he is drunk. The sound used in this specific scene you can here glass smashing, bottles rolling away and people mumbling, slowly this all turns into traffic and people outside the next morning moving into the next scene. As this all changes the camera in the club, hovers over Dewey on the floor the pans out and revolves, this along with the green lighting implies again that he will be hung over the next morning.Dewey Finn is a very lazy man who uses people all the time, he runs low on rent and needs to get a job quickly, so one day he was in an attempt to sell his attar to make some money to pay back his roommate, Ned, when the phone rings, he answers it and the camera switches to Miss Mullions, the Principal of Hoarseness Prep School, asking for a substitute teacher, the Dewey jumps to this and takes Needs place as a substitute, however, the Miss-en-scene is horrific, the contrast between Miss Mullions and Dewey Ann is enormous, Dewey is lazy, scrappy, selfish, extremely untidy, and stubborn, M iss Mullions however, is the complete opposite, this contrast between the two characters prepares the audience for the film to be a comedy.
